The meaning of Maitreya is universal love and compassion, which
become the most necessary for the human being living in uncertain
times. More than ever we need tolerance and compassion to be able
to live in peace with each other.
In view of a worldwide peaceful way of life the Maitreya project
named after the fifth Buddha is developed to inspire us to practice
universal love and compassion. The project contains the building
of temples in the performance of a bronze Buddha statue in Kushinagar
and the building of pulic educational institutions and hospitals.
Since march 2001 a precious collection of relics of Shakyamuni
Buddha and of other well-known spiritual masters have been going
on tour around the world..
The relics include crystalline, pearl-like deposits which were
collected from the ashes of spiritual masters after their cremation
and contain positive energie.
A cultural unique event took place in Hamburg from the 20th to
the 24th July 2005. A rare and precious collection of Buddhist relics,
released by Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Spiritual Director of Maitreya Project
was displayed to the public under the patronage of the University
Hamburg.
Supporting to this event, the professors of the faculty Middle
Eastern studies and diverse Buddhist organisations gave varied performances
and Buddhist instructions. Lessons in meditation as well as an exhibiton
of art and culture were part of the frame.
As
part of the vietnamese cultural program, Tieng Hat Que Huong performed
the 2 very well known Quan Ho songs "Ba quan" and "Nguoi
oi nguoi o dung ve". At the end of the program Tina Pham answered
questions from the audience about the dan tranh.
